Chemotherapy is a treatment that cures cancer. Many people affected by cancer choose to make chemo. Cancer is a disease that appears when cells in the body develop excessively. Chemo stops the cells from growing in order for the cancer to not spread. Chemotherapy works very well if the disease is at the beginning, it can erase for good the bad cells but sometimes chemo is needed for a long time. The treatment for chemo can be given orally with pills or liquid, by injection, intravenously or intrathecally meaning that the chemo drugs are injected in the spinal fluid. Cancer is probably the worst disease that affects many people. The number of the persons that suffer from cancer is annually growing.



Following chemo treatment can also have side effects. From the radiations many people lose hair, vomit, have bad headaches and feel weak. Side effects can differ from person to person, from treatment to treatment. The most common effects are tiredness. Many people feel tired after chemo, even if they have slept already. Pain is a constant when it comes to any treatment, especially when the doctor inserts the needle into the skin, but besides this people can have muscle pains, nerve problems, numbness in their toes etc.

Skin changes is another side effect of chemotherapy, the skin can be irritated, can turn red and after chemo it can even peel of, this process being named “radiation recall”. Hair loss is one of the most obvious side effects of chemotherapy, but after the treatment ends, the hair grows back. It`s quite disturbing to lose your hair in this way, so many people especially women buy wigs to look normal again.

Stomach Problems After Chemotherapy are very common. People feel sick, without an appetite, and during the treatment they can also throw up . Chemotherapy may cause also sores in the throat, mouth or gums. The gums may bleed and so the doctor can prescribe some pills for this problem. people that make chemo should go regularly to the dentist to get some advice about how to treat their teeth. Other problems are kidney and bladder problems, blood problems or some may have their central nervous system affected , making them depressed or confused. Blood problems are more serious and so many people that have cancer have blood transfusions. After the chemotherapy is over, people that suffer from cancer need to pay constant visits to the doctor to make sure the disease doesn`t recidivate.

Cancer can always come back if the cells affected were not eliminated so, those that have gone through a painful treatment like chemo, will always live with the fear of having again. Cancer is a difficult disease that causes many deaths annually. Chemotherapy is very painful but necessary, it can make you lose your self confidence and your hope in recovering but it`s one of the best remedies for cancer invented until now.
